If you love math and can't get enough of it join MATHLETES!
What is MATHLETES? MATHLETES is Bellamy Elementary School's new Math Club for high achieving, highly motivated 3rd, 4th and 5th graders which will increase exposure to mathematics, critical thinking, inquiry-based mathematical research projects, complex problem solving, and STEM careers in order to foster the love of mathematics, challenge students, and offer opportunities to participate in local, state, national, and international mathematics competitions. Another goal of this club is to provide gifted learners the chance to socialize and work with their intellectual peers, under the guidance of mentors who understand the social, emotional, and academic needs of AIG students, in a respectful environment that encourages students to take safe risks in friendly competition. And, it just might help them show growth or high-growth on their EOGs!
MATHLETES will offer students the opportunity to participate in monthly math competitions, design and conduct mathematical inquiry-based research projects, and enter the NC Math Fair at East Carolina University. Plus, students will have the chance to make new friends with others who love math!

The Math League is dedicated to bringing challenging mathematics materials to students. League specialties include math contests, books, and computer software designed to stimulate interest and confidence in mathematics for students from the 4th grade through high school. Over 1 million students participate in Math League contests each year. Contest questions are designed to cover a range of mathematical knowledge for each grade level. Questions on the contests never require any mathematics beyond the grade level tested. They're fun too!
