Instrument rental
Instruments will be selected and available during our rental night Date Wednesday September 1st at 6:00 on Zoom!
Cellos and basses will be available for use during class time, so that students do not have to transport them daily. However, please rent or loan an instrument for home practice and concert use.
The school does have a few instruments available to loan. Any student using a school instrument will have to have a Instrument Check-out form signed and turned in during the first week of school.
Purchasing versus Renting
I highly recommend renting through a reputable dealer rather than purchasing online. More than likely, students may need size changes throughout their orchestra education and not all instrument dealers provide quality instruments. If you would like to consider purchasing an instrument please contact me. I would be more than happy to help you find a quality instrument that will last!
Instrument Care
Proper care and maintenance is essential and will provide you with greater performance and longevity from your instrument! Here are the Do's and Don't for taking care of your instruments.
Please Do :)
Clean instrument, strings, and bow stick of rosin and dust before and after EACH use. Failure to clean off rosin dust can cause a build up of harden rosin that will affect the sound.
Loosen bow hair when not in use and tighten properly before playing.
Rosin bow as needed.
Have instrument maintenance done once a year * (bow rehair (as needed), new strings, bridge and soundpost adjustment(as needed), etc.)
Contact me if you are in need of repairs on school owned instruments or you have a concern about a rental.
Keep instrument and bow in case when not in use.
*Parents will be required to pay for any repairs and regular maintenance of instruments owned or on loan by student.
Never
let anyone play your instruments, even at home. Your instrument is your responsibility!
leave instrument and/or cases in excessively hot, humid or cold, dry environments. Do not leave your instrument in an unattended car!
leave instruments unattended and out of case.
use chemicals or polishes on instrument or strings. A soft, clean cloth will do the trick!
lie instrument down on its bridge
Touch the horsehair.
