About Me
In 2002, I graduated from UNC-Wilmington with a degree in Elementary Education. I moved back to my hometown in Maryland and taught for three years amongst many teachers whom had taught me when I was in elementary school. During that time, I attended Salisbury University and earned a master's degree as a Reading Specialist. While I enjoyed my teaching experience in Maryland, I missed Wilmington! Over the summer of 2005, I got married, moved back to Wilmington, and began teaching at Pine Valley Elementary. I started teaching at Castle Hayne Elementary in 2009, the year it opened. In November of 2010 I earned my National Board Certification in Literacy.
In 2015, I made the best career move of my life! I earned my English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) certification and became an ESL teacher. I LOVE the special bond I've formed with "my" English Language Learners and am grateful for having each one of them in my life!
In my spare time, I enjoy chasing around my two children, Braxtyn and Cadence, and our crazy dog named Izzy. We frequent the beach, library, and parks around Wilmington. We also love to go for hikes in the mountains.

Regresé a mi ciudad natal en Maryland y enseñé durante tres años entre muchos maestros que me habían enseñado cuando estaba en la escuela primaria. ¡En 2015, hice el mejor movimiento profesional de mi vida! Obtuve mi certificación de inglés para hablantes de otros idiomas (ESOL) y me convertí en maestra de ESL. ¡ME ENCANTA el vínculo especial que he formado con "mis" estudiantes del idioma inglés y estoy agradecida por tener a cada uno de ellos en mi vida!
En mi tiempo libre, disfruto persiguiendo a mis dos hijos, Braxtyn y Cadence, y a nuestro perro loco llamado Izzy. Frecuentamos la playa, la biblioteca y los parques alrededor de Wilmington. También nos encanta ir de excursión a la montaña.
