WHAT TO EXPECT
Students will learn to Connect, Create, Present and Respond to art concepts.
In addition to creating art, students will be expected to participate in note taking, in vocabulary building exercises, in respectful discussions, in planning, in problem solving, in listening and in sharing of thoughts and ideas verbally and in written formats.
Students will learn, practice and apply the Elements of Art & Principles of Design to enhance their art and to help build a foundational vocabulary for speaking and writing about their own art and the art of others.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU
Students will learn & practice "Studio Behaviors" daily: Respecting Others, Our Space & Our Materials:
Material Use: Use materials appropriately and avoid waste. Return communal supplies like scissors, rulers, and specific supplies to their designated place.
Safety First: Follow all safety guidelines for tools and materials, especially when using sharp objects or potentially messy substances. Do not eat in the art room. Always push your chair under the table when not in use.
Teamwork: students will work with their table-mates to distribute materials quickly and to return materials to there place.
They will help and encourage each other when needed and speak up when they see someone needs help.
Noise Level: Students will maintain a "working" or "inside" voice level. Conversations should be related to the projects and held at a volume that does not disrupt peers' concentration. A quiet studio allows all students to think critically and create.
Respect for others' work: Do not touch, mark on, or handle other students' projects without explicit permission. Follow procedures to ensure that YOU are not responsible for damaging another's' art or personal property.
Respect others’ time:
Be attentive and quiet during teacher instructions and demonstrations. This ensures everyone understands the assignment and procedures. Minimize unnecessary movement around the room to prevent accidents or disruptions. Move without running, touching others or stopping to talk, or interrupt others progress.
Time Management: Use class time wisely to work on assignments. Finish and stop on time to manage set up and cleanup time effectively.
Cleanup: Students are expected to clean up their individual workstations and shared areas at the end of each session. This includes washing brushes thoroughly, wiping down tables, putting away all supplies in their designated spots, and properly disposing of trash or recyclable materials and cleanup up the space under and around your table.
