Back to School

Greetings New Third Grade Students and Families,

My name is Mrs. Lorino, and I am excited to introduce myself as your child’s third grade teacher! Your child’s homeroom class for this coming school year will be 3C! I am a Pennsylvania certified teacher in the areas of Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-4) and Special Education (Pre-K-8) with a dual degree in my areas of certification and an autism endorsement. I have recently obtained my Master's of Education this past May! This coming school year will be my fifth year as a faculty member at New Foundations. This year will be my third year as a teacher in 3C! I have also directed New Foundations’ Choir and music for our our school's productions of "Beauty and the Beast", "Shrek the Musical", "Hairspray", "Little Shop of Horrors", and "The Jungle Book". If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via e-mail at klorino@nfcs.k12.pa.us.

In 3C, every student is a “Rock Star”! You will see that many of our supplies and class activities are themed to show each student is a “star” each day at school! You will receive more information about our class procedures, classroom news, communication, grading, and materials the first day of school in a booklet your child will bring home! Please visit my website throughout the school year to see class updates, class photos, homework, and current learning topics at https://sites.google.com/a/nfcs.k12.pa.us/miss-getley/.

You and your child are invited to our Open House event on Thursday, August 22, 2018 from 4:00-6:00pm. Please feel free to bring supplies or any other items you plan on bringing the first day of school! Your child will find his or her desk and have a tour of our classroom! 3C’s class is located in Room 212. To find Room 212, please go to the “Specialty Hallway” on the first floor by the library, art room, and computer lab. Walk down the hallway between the art room and computer lab, and our classroom will be the room to the right!

The first day of school will be Monday, August 26- a 12pm dismissal. Please also remember to bring all summer reading and math work on the first day of school, August 26! Please remember there is no CARES available the first week of school!

As an addition to our school supply list, please bring a 1 or 1 ½ inch hard 3 ring binder with a plastic insert area on the front cover. We will be placing a cover sheet with your child’s name on it in the insert area (similar to previous years' K.I.T. books). The binder may be any color you choose! Please make sure that the binder is not flexible so it does not easily tear or fold inside of desks. This binder is used in place of a homework folder and take home folder. We will also be using this binder to hold our new homework agenda books, book logs, behavior calendars, and any important notes sent home from school. If you have any difficulty locating or obtaining a binder, please contact me! I have seen many binders at Dollar Tree, Walmart, and Target! No dividers are needed!

It would be greatly appreciated if you could send in a note for the week/each day to inform us about your child's dismissal plan for the first week of school until all paperwork is returned. I will be sending home student information, dismissal, and contact sheets on the first day of school! If you have any additional information you’d like to share with me about your child (i.e. learning style, strengths, needs, medical concerns, etc.) of which you believe I should be aware, please feel to contact me at any time! I am looking forward to an outstanding year, and I look forward to meeting you and each new third grader!

See you soon,

Mrs. Lorino
