Hello, I am Mrs. Bock one of the 3rd grade teachers here at Newman. I am blessed to know so many of you already, and I am looking forward to meeting all of the new students and families. Newman is such a special place to learn and grow in faith, academics, and friendships.
I proudly have been a Newman classroom teacher for the the past 17 years. I began my career at Newman teaching pre-kindergarten (3 years) and taught kindergarten for 11 years. This year will be my fourth year teaching 3rd grade. I greatly miss teaching kindergarten, but I am enjoying teaching third grade.
Prior to teaching at Newman, I substituted in grades K-5 and I taught 4 years of 4th grade at St. Cecilia Catholic School in Ames, Iowa.
I am married 30+ years to my husband Alan. We are blessed with three children Brandon (32), Holly (27), and Jared (25). All three of them are Newman graduates. Brandon is in the banking field and lives in Des Moines. Holly is an Occupational Therapist and Jared is beginning a career in law. We were blessed to officially welcome our daughter-in-law, Emily, to the family. She and Brandon were married in July of 2024.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My family and I often play cards and board games. We have a dog named Yoshi that I take for daily walks. I enjoy watching and attending sporting events (Hawkeyes and White Sox) and going to music concerts. I love opportunities to travel and hope to do more of that in my retirement years.
I am fully committed to my role as a teacher within this Newman community of teachers, staff, students, and families. I am confident that together (with help from the good Lord above) we will provide the best education (spiritually, academically, socially) possible.
Hello, I am Arianna Sliger and have the pleasure to teach 3rd grade at Newman this school year. This will be my second year teaching at Newman, but my fifth year overall. I am very excited to meet all my students and families. I know this will be a great year for learning.
I grew up in Decorah, Iowa and got my masters degree at the University of Northern Iowa.
I live in Mason city just a few minutes down the road with my husband of three years. We have a daughter named Ayda who is 2 years old and a son named Ryder who is 9 months old. I am so fortunate that my kids get to go to daycare here at the school with me.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. We love being outside at our house and playing at the parks here in Mason City. I also enjoy visiting my family in Decorah, Iowa when we have time on the weekends. We also love to travel when we have the time to do so.
I am eager to teach this year at Newman and have faith that everything will fall into place and happen as it should. I believe the students will make great friends, learn new academics, make amazing memories, and grow in their faith. Thank you for trusting us at Newman to provide your children with the best education!
Hello! I am Kamryn Allen, and I am so excited to introduce myself as one of the 3rd grade teachers here at Newman! This is my third year teaching at Newman, but my first year in 3rd grade. I previously taught 5th grade for two years and truly enjoyed the experience. That said, I’m thrilled to begin this new adventure in 3rd grade and am looking forward to all the learning, growth, and fun we'll have together this year.
I grew up in Mason City and am proud to be part of this community. I attended NIACC and later transferred to the University of Northern Iowa to complete my education. Outside of the classroom, I also serve as an assistant coach for the Newman Dance Team, which is something I deeply enjoy. Coaching allows me to build meaningful relationships with students in a different setting and support their passions beyond academics.
When I’m not teaching or coaching, I love spending quality time with my family and friends. A big part of that includes my sweet one-year-old English Springer Spaniel puppy, Fred! He keeps me busy and brings lots of joy to my life. I also enjoy going on walks, watching my favorite TV shows, and spending time with our family dogs. One of my favorite traditions is our yearly family trip to Florida — it’s something I look forward to every year.
I am truly passionate about teaching and feel honored to be a part of each student’s educational journey. One of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher is getting to know each child individually and watching them grow throughout the school year. I believe that every student has the potential to soar, and I can't wait to support, encourage, and celebrate all the milestones we’ll reach together in 3rd grade.
