About Mrs. Smith

Hello, and welcome to a new school year! I am so excited to be a part of the Newark City Schools system for another great year. As I will be getting to know all of you (my students), I believe it is only fair for you all to know about me.

I graduated high school from East Knox High School in Knox County, Ohio. As a senior, I also attended the Knox County Career Center where I graduated from their Pre-Professional Mentorship Program. Directly out of high school, I attended The Ohio State University (GO BUCKS!) where I majored in English (concentration in Young Adult and Adolescent Education) and received my Bachelor of Arts Degree. I then pursued my Master of Education degree from the Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

Upon graduation, I was employed as a substitute teacher for schools in Knox County. In 2013, I obtained a teaching position at Fredericktown High School where I taught 9th grade English and was part of the 21st Century After-School program.

In 2015 I was hired by Newark City Schools to teach 11th and 12th grade English. This year, I am responsible for English 12 and English 10.

I have a wonderful husband whom I have been with for 14 years and married to for 8 of those years. In addition, I have two amazing kids: Keaura, who is 17 and is in 12th grade at Danville as well as an amazing athlete; Bryant, who is 7 years old and is in second grade. We also have two amazing dogs: Kimber, a black lab mix; and Colt, a rescue puppy from the Licking County Humane Society, that we believe to be a Border Collie and Cattle Dog mix. We also have 4 cats, 7 chickens and two rabbits!

If you ever have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me!
