Prompts for reflections are provided below. These are guiding questions to get you started. Please feel free to take your reflection in other directions, if it makes sense for you to do so and is appropriate for GCS purposes.
Prompts for Cross-Cultural Experiences Reflections, 1-2 pages in length.
1. Who was this CC experience organized by?
2. What did you learn from the people running the experience or those participating in it alongside you?
3. What were you thoughts or expectations going into this experience? What were you nervous or excited about?
4. How were you expectations either met, confirmed, or contradicted? What was different than you expected?
5. How did you feeling leaving this experience? In what ways did you connect with someone new? What new
perspectives did you learn about or gain?
6. How has this experience informed your global perspective? Has it motivated you to dig deeper or seek other related
experiences?
Prompts for Programs/Lectures/Events Reflections, 1-2 pages in length.
1. Who ran this program/event?
2. What was the goal or the focus of the event?
3. What was discussed, presented, or done during this event?
4. What did you take away from this experience? What feelings, thoughts, or emotions were provoked from this
program or event? Are you inspired to do more with the information or inspiration you may have gained?
5. What about this event were you able to connect to your classes or other experiences you've had?
Prompts for International Travel Reflection, 2-3 pages in length.
1. Where did you travel and why did you choose this destination?
2. Who did you travel with (Notre Dame? Through a company? With a student travel organization? Your Family?)
3. What cultural differences were apparent and how did you find yourself reacting to them?
4. How has this experience changed the way you view the place you visited, the people who live there, the culture present there, and humanity in general?
