What do we look for in a Global Scholar Applicant?
While our STEM and Arts programs have straightforward criteria in terms of Math or Science level classes, and involvment in Dance Company, Women's Chorale, Ensemble and Visual Arts classes, the Global Scholar program is a bit unique in that its mail goal is to provide students who are passionate about global issues, human rights, environmental sustainability, justice, diplomacy, democracy, and culture with a variety of unique, in-depth, leadership and cross-cultural experiences.
We look for applicants that can demonstrate involvement in related programming, cubs, activities, organizations, networks either in middle school or during the fall of their 9th grade year. These experiences are not limited to those offered by Notre Dame or the Center for Global Leadership. Share what you know, what you care about, and what you do about it! While GPA is important so we know that a student is able to handle the additional responsibilities and time commmitment that come with being a global scholar, this is not the deciding factor for student selections. Showcasing personal qualities like open-mindedness, maturity, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and empathy goes a long way. To put it broadly, we want to know, "What do you want to give to the world?"
