Course description:

1. NJROTC Cadet Drill/Field manual
2. Introduction to NJROTC
3. Naval Science 2: Maritime History, Leadership and Nautical Science
4. Naval Science 3: Naval Knowledge and Skills
(All textbooks provided)
For all Aviation classes your Instructor will provide you with the required texts and materials.
Required Materials and Equipment:
1. Mondays- Physical Training (PT)**
a. P.T. clothes: shorts, unit-T-shirt, socks
b. Tennis shoes
c. Sunscreen (if needed)
2. Tuesday and Friday- Academics
a. Cadet notebook
b. Pen/Pencil
c. Cadet field Manual/Naval Science text book
3. Wednesday- Uniform Day Uniform policy: If a Cadet has an excused absence from school
on any given Uniform Day they will be required to wear their uniform the first day they return
to school, if not they will be assigned a grade of ZERO. If a Cadet misses an assignment
(wearing the uniform) they must make up the missed assignment the next school day. Points will
be deducted from the grade for being late. If you do not make up the missed assignment the next
school day the ZERO stands.
4. Thursday - Drill (Tennis Shoes, any type)
**Cadets are required by Florida State Sunshine standards to actively participate in the NJROTC Physical Fitness program to receive credits for graduation. Each person must “Dress Out” and participate on assigned days. The school Nurse will review all notes from parents and or doctors and will be the only person eligible to grant participation waivers.
Mission:
The purpose of JROTC programs is found in the law passed by Congress in Title 10 USC (United States Code) Chapter 102. “To instill in students the value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.”
Grading Criteria: Grade scale of 100%
All classes EXCEPT Aviation classes.
1. Academics 40%: class work, quizzes, and tests.
2. Uniforms 25%: overall Military bearing including uniform appearance.
3. Leadership 10%
4. Drill 15%
5. Physical Training 10%
Code of Conduct:
Theft, cheating (including testing), lying or other questionable behavior will be subject to disciplinary action as prescribed by the Senior Naval Science Instructor. Parents, Guidance and the School Administration will be contacted.
