Course description:

4. to teach personal responsibility
Required textbooks:
1. NJROTC Cadet Drill/Field Manual
2. Introduction to NJROTC
3. Cadet Reference Manual
(All textbooks provided)
Required Materials and Equipment:
1. Monday- Military Drill
a. Any closed-toe type of shoe (no slides, sandals, or flip-flop style of shoe)
2. Tuesday and Friday- Academics
a. Cadet notebook
b. Pen/Pencil
c. Cadet Drill/Field Manual/Naval Science text book
3. Wednesday- Uniform Day
a. Cadet Drill/Field Manual- uniform regulations.
4. Thursdays- Physical Training (PT)
a. Tennis Shoes and socks (suitable for running and cross-training like exercises)
b. PT Uniform (shorts and shirt) (will be issued once Cadet's fair-share is PAID)
c. Water bottle
d. Sunblock/sunscreen (if needed, we will PT outside, if weather permits)
Course Objective: This course is designed to provide young men/women the basic principles of leadership, which combined with the many opportunities for practical experience in the NJROTC program, will prepare them for leadership roles in school and upon graduation. Develop in students an understanding of our nation, our values, traditions, heritage, and respect for our laws.
Grading Criteria (subject to change): Grade scale of 100%
1.Class Participation- Military Drill and Physical Training- How well you participate in class, 10%.
2.Academics- Class/home work, quizzes, and tests, 40%
3.Military/Uniform- How well you wear the NJROTC uniform, grooming, and NJROTC knowledge, 40%
4.Discipline/ Study Skills- Leadership, Follower-ship, and Participation throughout the 9 weeks, 10%
Code of Conduct:
Theft, cheating (including testing), lying or other questionable behavior will be subject to disciplinary action as prescribed by the Senior Naval Science Instructor. Parents, Guidance and the School Administration will be contacted.
