LCDR Brian Swanson
I am Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Brian Swanson and I am the Senior Naval Science Instructor for the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program at Glenn Hills High School. I retired from the navy in June 2012 after 24 years of active service and have been a NJROTC instructor since May 2014.
I enlisted in the Navy in June 1988 as a Avionics Electrician (AE) and worked on SH-60B helicopters at HSL-40 in Mayport, Fl until June 1991. I received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated in 1995 with a bachelors degree in Systems Engineering. I competed my master degree in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Ca in 2005. I served as Signals Intelligence Officer/Information Warfare Officer and have been stationed in NSGA Medina (NIOC Texas), Seventh Fleet, Japan, Monterey, Ca, Suitland, Md, and Pentagon.
NJROTC is a great program for your student. This program is a leadership and citizenship development program that will give your child a sense of purpose, instill discipline, build confidence, teach leadership skills, and help plan for the future. Here we instill the values of citizenship, personal responsibility and develop a sense of accomplishment.
