About Our Class

On this page, you will find information about our science class this year including class expectations, policies, grading, and general information. Use this information to help you achieve success in science!

Classroom Expectations

I expect each and every student to come to class prepared with the proper materials and ready to learn. Each student is responsible for themselves. In short, be prepared, be respectful, be honest, and always try your best.

Classroom Materials

Each day, you should bring your 3 ring binder with dividers and paper, a pencil, and a pen with you in class everyday. We will keep our binders organized and do binder clean outs as needed, however all materials should be stored in the binder so they can be located easily.

Homework

Homework will be given on an as needed basis as review and reinforcement of information we learn in class. It is your responsibility to complete your homework when it is due. Homework will be graded at random for participation only, never for accuracy. Half credit will be given for late homework. Remember, homework is given to help you to be successful in class!

The bulk of homework in sixth grade science will not be physical work but will be reviewing vocabulary and content nightly. Students can feel free to create a Quizlet account if they would like, but they will be able to access my vocabulary sets without an account. Reviewing on vocabulary and/or class notes should be a routine students get used to doing for 5-10 minutes a night.

Grades

Grades are based on a point scale in the categories below. This means that larger assignments are worth more points and smaller assignments are worth fewer points. All the grades are posted on iPass.
