What will I learn in science class this year?
This year we will learn about how to make scientific observations, use microscopes, learn the parts of the cell and how cells work, heredity and genetics, human body systems, ecosystems and interactions of living things, and evolution.
Are there any extra credit options in class?
There are no extra credit opportunities outside of the occasional bonus question on a quiz. The best way to succeed in class is to keep up with the work and ask for help when you need it.
How often should I check my grades on PowerSchool?
You should check PowerSchool every week to make sure you are not missing any assignments. Grades will be updated every two weeks, if not sooner.
What if I don't understand how to do a homework assignment?
If you are confused about a homework assignment, try calling a friend for help first. You can email me but I don't always check my email regularly at night. If you are really stuck, try your best and have an adult from home sign off that you put in effort on your homework. You will receive credit if you do this.
Will I be able to turn in an assignment late?
I accept late assignments but they should be turned in as soon as possible. This is the same as makeup work so that you do not fall behind or feel lost in class. If late assignments become an issue, we will have to discuss strategies for getting work in on time.
Starting second trimester, late work begins to lose credit.
Will there be makeup exams if I don't do well on a test or quiz?
Makeup exams will be given on an individually judged basis. I want all students to do well so I will speak to any student who feels they need to make up an exam. Occasionally, circumstances will not allow students to have a makeup and makeup exams should never be used as a backup for original tests and quizzes.
