Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year! Astronomy is a science that investigates the origin and evolution of the Universe - everything we see and cannot see in space. It is a science that seek s to answer fundamental questions like "How big and how far away are the planets and stars? How did they form? What are they composed of? How old are they? How do they move and why?" This semester, students will investigate the origins of the Universe, the Earth-Moon-Sun system, our solar system, the Sun, stars and galaxies, and the history of astronomy from the Greek era through modern day space exploration. Through models and laboratory experiences, a stargazing night, and a field trip to the Arne Slettebak Planetarium, students will explore the enormity and complexity of our expanding Universe.
