Becky Stephens: Program Director

Coach for Fall Football Sideline, Varsity Game Day, Varsity Competitive, and Elementary Blue Competitive

Becky currently is entering her 26th year of coaching cheerleading.  This is her 17th year coaching the sideline cheerleaders of St. Michael - Albertville High School.  In order to expand the level of cheerleading in the district she is also the Program Director and coaches 3 of the 8 competitive cheer teams run through Community Education.  This will be the 16th year for the Varsity program, the 10th year for the JV program, the 11th year for the Middle School program, and the 13th year for the elementary program. 

Becky began coaching during the 1997-1998 school year.  Prior to coaching in STMA she coached the sideline and competitive teams at Irondale High School for five years, sideline at St. Agnes for one year, the competition team at Roseville Middle School for one year, and directed and coached the Metro Magic All Stars for two years.   Beside coaching, Becky is also very involved with the Minnesota Cheerleading Coaches Association Board.  She has been the MCCA State Competition Director since 2005, treasurer for many years, and also served one term as the President. Becky was a UPA Regional Director from 2002-2007, has judged in Minnesota since 2004, was named the 2009 Section 5 Spirit Contributor of the Year, was recognized as the 2011 UPA National Cheer Coach of the Year, and was named the 2019 MCCA Coach of the Year.  She is a math teacher at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

Kendyl Burg: Coach for Fall Soccer Sideline, Junior Varsity Game Day, and Middle School Competitive 

Kendyl is a 2021 graduate of St. Michael - Albertville High School and was a STMA Cheerleader for 8 years, starting on our Elementary Team.  Kendyl was a MCCA All State Sideline Cheerleader and  a three-time UCA All American.  Kendyl began coaching at STMA immediately after High School as our Fall Sideline Soccer Coach and now has taken on the role as one of our MS Coaches and our JV Game Day coach!  We are excited to have you sharing your love of cheer with the cheerleaders of STMA!  This will be Kendyl's 4th year coaching at STMA. 

Evie Bach: Coach for Junior Varsity and Elementary Gold Competitive 

Cheerleading has been a huge part of Evie's life. She graduated from Anoka High School in 2020 and cheered there for 6 years. She was captain of her high school team for 2 years and received an MCCA scholarship her senior year. As well as cheering in high school she coached Anoka’s elementary and middle school community education cheer programs. After high school Evie continued cheering at St. Cloud State University on the all-girl sideline and competitive teams. For the 2022-23 season Evie was one of the captains at St. Cloud State University.  She is also a board assistant for MCCA. This will be Evie's 3rd year coaching at STMA.

Jackie Durand: Coach for Middle School Competitive and Game Day

Jackie has been active in the world of cheerleading since middle school. She cheered for a variety of sideline sports starting in 7th grade through Jackson Middle School & CDAA. In Middle school she also cheered with Cheer America for 2 years.  Jackie spent her high school years continuing to cheer on the sidelines at Champlin Park. After high school Jackie continued to spread her passion and knowledge for cheer whenever she could.  She volunteered with her former middle & high school programs, ran multiple mini cheer camps through YMCA Sports in Andover, and most recently was the Varsity Competitive & Game Day Coach at Champlin Park High School for 5 years.  Jackie went to Iowa State for her undergraduate in Child, Adult and Family Services & University of Wisconsin River Falls for her Masters in School Counseling.  Jackie is currently a school counselor in Big Lake Schools, but lives here in Albertville with her husband, 3 year old daughter & 2 yellow labs. This is Jackie's 2nd year coaching with STMA.
