While all children develop at their own individual pace, there are stages that are typical to different ages- hence the title of this subsection. Your child's teacher can be a great resource for what's typical for that grade level student, in terms of academic learning and also with behaviors, emotions, and social skills. Our Early Intervention website has some great developmental resource information. The following books and websites provide information about the typical stages that children go through at different ages. These resources can be helpful to parents with what to expect at different ages; see below links.
I'm also very excited about the 2nd Step social skills curriculum that I started using in the 2012-2013 school year. It has a wealth of age-appropriate information, skills, and activities to help kids develop skills for learning (cues for listening, focusing attention, etc.), skills for managing emotions, and problem-solving skills. Here's the website, if you'd like more information on this program: http://www.cfchildren.org/second-step.aspx
In my Videos for Families section, I have videos of me teaching some of my favorite 2nd Step songs, including songs for focusing & listening, as well as 3 different songs for calming.
I'll continue adding resources; please let me know if you have things to recommend :)
