James Halliday, the creator of the OASIS, left a hidden Easter Egg in the OASIS after his death in an attempt to find someone worthy who shared his obsessions and ideals to inherit his fortune and total control over the OASIS. To find the Easter Egg, players needed to find three different keys which open three different gates but each key and gate required players to complete a series of challenges that required a lot of knowledge of American 80s pop-culture.
Gunters are people who have dedicating their lives to studying Halliday's life in order to find the Easter Egg.
Stacks are the names of villages that were made after the energy crisis, which are essentially just a bunch of trailers stacked up on top of each other, hence, it's name.
The OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory Immersive Simulation) is an Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) virtual reality game created by James Halliday.
The OASIS starts out as a game, but because of the dystopian state of reality, the immersion of the game, and the sheer amount of things that can be done in the game, from shopping, to hunting monsters, the OASIS grows into a second reality for people, a utopia where people escape from their real life struggles.
Sixers are IOI employees that are trying to obtain Halliday's Egg. Sixer is a nickname given by gunters to IOI employees because all their avatar names in the OASIS start with the number 6.
