2025 Washington, D.C Trip Behavior Rules
The three main rules of the trip:
1. Do not hurt yourself
2. Do not hurt others
3. Do not hurt property
Carefully consider these three basic rules throughout the trip.
A violation could remove you from the trip and send you home at your parents’ expense.
General Rules:
1. Always be helpful, kind, and calm.
2. Choose your clothes based on the school dress code and projected weather.
3. Be aware of all time schedules, what time to meet, and where to meet.
4.Meet the group ON TIME.
5. If in doubt of the time or place to meet, then ask!
6. Every student MUST have a watch or charged cell phone.
7. You MUST have your DC Jacket and Lanyard with your ID and the list of chaperone phone numbers with you at all times, every day before leaving the hotel (This will be given to you upon checking in on Friday evening
8. If you are not sure if something is right or wrong, then it is probably wrong and don’t do it!!!
9. It is recommended that you use a cell phone to call home. *Make sure all cell phone plans have a Nation- wide plan prior to leaving or make sure to know your perimeters of phone usage. The phone in your room is very expensive to call home.
10. No drinking alcohol, smoking, or any type of substance abuse. This is a violation of Basic Rule #1 from above – you will be sent home
11. Girls are never to be in a boy’s room and boys are never to be in a girl’s room. This is also an automatic “send home.”
12. Hats may only be worn outside ONLY (Not in buildings or on the bus).
13. iPhones should be used when needed, but not used while touring and learning is taking place. There will be occasions in which you will be allowed to use them on the bus when we travel for a long distance, but only when given permission.
On the Airplane:
Seat assignments are made by the airlines.
FAA regulations require that you are in your assigned seat, therefore there will be no switching of seats.
Try to keep from having to constantly get things down from the overhead storage. No loud talking
We will be the last group off the plane. Stay in your seat until a chaperone gives the group permission to stand and leave.
In the Hotel:
1, You must be in your room by curfew determined by chaperones. You may not leave your room for any reason except for an emergency. If there is a problem, you can always call us after curfew.
2. After curfew, do not open your door unless a chaperone knocks.
3. Get ice, or buy drinks/candy/food and be in your room before curfew.
4. No running, screaming, slamming room doors, or loud talking/music/noises, especially late at night.
5. Leave the room in better condition than you found it.
On the Bus:
1. Stay in your seat while the bus is moving.
2. Listen carefully and follow all directions. You will be told what time to meet and where the bus will be located (not always the same place where we are dropped off).
3. NO TALKING while the tour guide/bus driver is talking.
Have a partner AT ALL TIMES – EVERYWHERE! DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ALONE!
Be quiet and respectful at our nation’s monuments, memorials, cemeteries, and museums.
When walking KEEP TO THE RIGHT!!!
Dispose of litter properly and avoid panhandlers & beggars Be on time & Follow Directions & HAVE FUN
