GM Studio 1 Maze Game Tutorial - Use this tutorial for your first maze game!
- GM 8 Project Guides - Mr. Britton, a teacher friend of mine from a different school created different projects for students to work through. The directions are for GM8 so the requirements might be slightly different. It shouldn't be too difficult to follow.
- Starter Sprites - some images to get you started.
- GM Resource Book - files uploaded from the book to my site. Use knowing that these resources are copyrighted.
- Cool Math Games, Math Playground - don't let the math part of the name fool you. These are great sites for some ideas for games to get you started.
Getting Started
- Blocky Games - teaches you the basics of programming with a drag and drop interface. The challenges increase in difficultly and are actually kind of fun.
- Code.org - various programming challenges presented in a game format. The challenges are fun and cover recent game/app content while teaching basic programming skills.
Resources
- Sumo Paint - an online picture/photo editor. Like MS Paint, but completely online.
- Yoyo Games - the company that produces the software for video game creation. There are lots of great resources on this site as well.
Advanced Resources
- Blender - 3D and animation creation software. The program is not web-based, but the program is amazing. There are great tutorials and resources for this program. You can export your creations to a file format (like .png, .bmp. or .jpg) to use with GM.
- Spine - I don't know much about this software. I have heard that it can be used to create characters with moving joints and features that integrates with GM.
Aspirations (Dreams)
- Yoyo Games Sandbox - amazing games people (sometimes teams) have put together using the software you are using. These games are often published and eventually sold as standalone games. Video game creator, that would be such a cool occupation.
