Step 2: Choose an Activity Below to Complete
Click Here for Name Animation, which animates the letters of your name, initials, or a favorite word.
Click Here for Lightbot, which is a game that asks players to use programming logic to solve puzzles! Gain a practical understanding of basic coding concepts by guiding Lightbot to light up all the blue tiles in each level. Learn how to sequence instructions, write procedures, and utilize loops along the way in this self-guided activity.
Click Here for Minecraft. Choose one of three Minecraft coding adventures. Minecraft is back for the Hour of Code with a brand new activity! Journey through Minecraft with code.
Click Here for Sprite Box. (Warning: this may not work on Chromebooks.) Run, jump, and code your way through three different worlds to collect the stars and make it to the finish line! Learn sequencing, debugging and loops, and code in Swift, Java, or with Icons.
Click Here for Star Wars. Learn to program droids, and create your own Star Wars game in a galaxy far, far away. Choose either the blocks editor version or, for a more difficult challenge, try the JavaScript option.

Common Path (Ideas)
Click Here for Flappy Bird. Use drap-and-drop programming to make your own Flappy Bird game, and customize it to look different (Flappy Shark, Flappy Santa, whatever).
Advanced Path (Ideas)
- Scratch (Intro to coding program that uses snap together blocks
as code)
+ What is the benefit of having students create an account? Does it save their projects on their servers?
- Code Combat (RPG that teaches coding in the game, it is a paid service.)
- Code Avengers (The first week is free, so I might just use this. I should check into pricing for the paid version. Has great variety for programming languages. Great FAQ section. This program might
also fit in the advanced path category.)
- Tynker (Looks very shiny and engaging. Need to check in the
pricing. The free version provides an intro to CS course that looks
promising and I can manage students through a teacher profile.)
- Treehouse (independent learning of major programming languages)
- Code Academy (independent learning of major programming languages, possibly free)
