Advanced Life Skills Math is designed to assist those students who need direct one-on-one math instruction. We focus on those skills that are used in everyday life. Homework is rarely assigned as we do a lot of hands-on, in-class discussions.
For Fall, 2018, I am planning on spending most of the semester on mastering measuring skills: reading a ruler/measuring tape, liquid and solid weights, as well as fine tuning our abilities to estimate weights. This will involve fractions as well.
In June I was privileged to spend a week as a Teacher Intern at Behlen Tech in Omaha, NE. One of the most interesting departments to me was Quality Control. Calipers have been ordered... We will be testing various items to see if they meet the quality control standards.
We are a small group who are learning a lot!
