Grade 3 Overview
Reading Literature:
Students will read and comprehend a variety of literature at varying levels of complexity.
Students will learn and apply various reading strategies, including; inferences, character traits, point of view, compare/contrast, summarizing, cause & effect, and author's purpose.
Reading Informational Text:
Students will read and comprehend a variety of informational text at varying levels of complexity.
Students will learn and apply various reading strategies, including; main idea and supporting details, sequencing, cause & effect, compare/contrast, using text features, and author's purpose
Writing
Students will write for a variety of purposes, including narratives, opinions, and informational writing Students will learn to write text based constructed responses.
Speaking and Listening:
Students will use text presented orally and visually to engage in collaborative discussions with peers Students will use a variety of technology to support the presentation of knowledge and ideas. Language:
Students will learn to write in cursive, and will learn and apply spelling patterns and standard English language conventions.
