Sonia Kovalesky Day - Auburn University of Montgomery (AUM)
For many years AUM has invited and MCPS has participated in their Sonia Kovalesky Day. This nearly annual event encourages female middle and high school students throughout Alabama to consider careers in mathematics and the sciences. The all day affair includes three sessions offering various mathematically inclined seminars that often emphasize the practical application of math or hands on applications of math principles and theories. The day concludes with a five member panel of females who discuss their careers in math and science.

Annual Women's Leadership Symposium - Auburn University
MCPS has been fortunate to have been invited to this wonderful event for several years. The symposium is hosted by the Auburn University Colleges of Science and Mathematics (COSAM) in cooperation with the Society of Women in Sciences and Mathematics (SWSM). The symposium invites young women in high school to attend sessions from various disciplines, sessions on strategies for success in college, and a keynote session by a prominent woman in a science or mathematical field. Students have the opportunity to meet and network with female students and faculty from Auburn, as well as women with successful careers in the sciences. The symposium encourages high school girls to consider college majors in science and mathematics, or related fields. [http://www.auburn.edu/cosam//departments/outreach/programs/SWSM/symposium/].
