Summer Math for (incoming) Honors Algebra II
Summer Math for Honors Algebra II consists solely of review lessons from Algebra 1; for this reason, new Honors Algebra II (HAII) students are expected to know this material before they start HAII. DeltaMath is the venue for the summer math assignment. DeltaMath enables instant feedback on performance and assistance when review is needed by providing steps for how to complete a problem and videos on how to do it as well. The grade for summer math is a project grade based on the score in DeltaMath. This will also be the first grade of Quarter 1.
To complete the summer math assignment, students need to:
1) Review the four attached notes below on factoring and solving quadratics.
2) Click this link to register for our Honors Algebra II class on DeltaMath: https://www.deltamath.com/students?code=2A9J-D92J
2a) You may have to create a DeltaMath account. Please do so; it is free. Then register for the class by clicking the above link.
2b) Once you have a DeltaMath account and are registered for our class, you can click this link for the Summer Math assignment: https://www.deltamath.com/app/assignment/23274506
3) Begin the assignment, writing down the title of the section you are working on, writing the problem and showing your work (except for the very last 'timed' section where no work is needed).
(NOTE: DeltaMath works on the system that you need to get so many questions correct in a section; once you hit that number, you have completed that section.)
4) Consider getting ahead by reviewing the last part on this page of "Beyond Summer Math". (This is NOT required for the summer math project, but it will help you in the first quarter.)
What to turn-in:
On the first day of school submit your clearly labeled and organized work with your name on it. Points will be deducted if it is not clearly labeled and organized. If all work is completed in DeltaMath by the first day of school, but your paper with all problems worked out with answers is not submitted or your submitted paper only contains the problems with answers and no work shown, then the highest score you can earn is a 50%.
VERITAS (Honor Policy): Each student is to do their work individually. Students may discuss the general nature of each project with others but not the specific values being calculated.

HA II Prep: Beyond Summer Math : What is listed here is NOT required for summer math & will not be tested on the summer math test. However, for those who'd like to further their preparation for H. Alg II, these suggestions are helpful.
Shifts, stretches/compressions/reflections (transformations of functions)
These will be first taught in late Aug/Sep but they are one of the toughest concepts to grasp in HA II. Gaining some understanding before class would be helpful.
