How to be successful in 8th grade math:
Take notes. You have been given a notebook, use it! Make sure you not only include the steps to solve a problem but also multiple examples. Fill out and use the vocabulary/formulas section.
SLOW DOWN! Make sure you read ALL the directions and understand all the parts of the question.
Get help sooner rather than later. Work with and use the other students in your group, call a friend, re-read the lesson, or ask me. (I get paid to help you!).
Go to tutoring. Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:25. Tutoring is not just for current concepts, when you are struggling with a concept force yourself to keep working that type of problem until you understand the concept.
Do every correction. Taking the time to re-work the problems you missed while writing out each step necessary to solve the problem will help you recognize your mistakes and deepen your understanding of how to complete the problem.
