Beginner Band Registration (grade 5)
Welcome to the Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School Instrumental Music Program! Learning to play a musical instrument is a rewarding experience for anyone at any age, but music is especially helpful to the development of our children.
To learn more about the band program, how to register for band, and obtain an instrument, please follow these steps.
1. Visit the beginner band registration website.
2. Parents/guardians and students should review the beginner band handbook that further explains the band program.
3. Fill out and submit the online band registration form by Wednesday, September 10.
4. If you plan on renting a band instrument, you will also need to visit David French Music's website to complete their online rental form by Wednesday, September 10. Instrument rentals will be delivered to our school.

Gr. 6 Concert Band Registration
I am excited to reach out and welcome last year's band students. We are so very fortunate to have two teaching spaces for music in our new school. One for general music and one for band!
Please click on the link below to review the gr. 6 concert band handbook for details about the band program. Once you and your child have reviewed the handbook, please click on the second link below to complete and submit the registration form. It should take less than a minute to fill out.

A few highlights are as follows:
Grade six band students will have both a weekly lesson and band rehearsal (all instruments) this year.
Most band classes will take place during the grade 6 WIN period. Since there are more band classes than WIN periods, a few classes may be scheduled during period two @ 9:00 - 9:40 PM as well.
Band rehearsal will be scheduled during Friday's grade six WIN period.
All band lessons will start the week of Monday, September 15.
Teachers are aware that if there is something important that a student needs to be in attendance for (test, presentation, etc.) and it occurs during one of their band periods, I am perfectly fine with a student attending either their lesson or band rehearsal versus both. Otherwise, the expectation will be that students attend both band periods.
Deadline for signing up again for band is Wednesday, September 10.
