Our goal is to help Cobb Mountain Elementary be the best school it can be. We are dedicated to the successful education of our children and want all students, teachers, and staff to learn, have fun, and be inspired. We’re always eager to find more great people, like you, to help us meet this goal. Parent/guardian involvement is critical for a successful school. Volunteer as a PTO officer or coordinator for the 2022-2023 school year. There are positions that take no more than a couple hours a month, some are that are seasonal, and a few that require a routine commitment.

The PTO Board of Directors is comprised of elected officers, committee chairs, and school representatives. It meets once per month during the school year to conduct PTO business. Anyone may attend. We consider every parent or guardian of a student at Cobb Mountain Elementary to be a member of the PTO.
We are excited to get started and help Cobb Mountain Elementary be the best school it can be.

August 4th, 2022 General Meeting - Coming soon!
President – Serve as leader and key contact for the PTO; preside at all PTO meetings; ex-officio member of most committees; appoint chairpersons for special committees; coordinate the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO’s objectives can be met. (Effort: year-round, on-going)
Vice President – Act as an aide to the President; perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors; coordinate the general activities of any Special Committees created by the Board of Directors. (Effort: year-round, time varies depending upon roles)
Secretary – Keep the minutes of all general meetings and all meeting of the Board of Directors; prepare correspondence and perform all other duties assigned; maintain master documents online; help recruit committee chairpersons for all vacant standing committees of the board; keep the calendar of events for the PTO. (Effort: 3-4 hours per month, includes attending meeting and typing up minutes)
Treasurer – Be responsible for and have custody of all funds; make disbursements as properly authorized; be present at all PTO events where money will be collected; assure that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds; prepare financial reports for each meeting and as needed; prepare the books for an annual audit. (Effort: 4-5 hours per month, average)
Positions may be filled by elected officers. (These are committees – there should be volunteers to help.)
Sponsor Program – Manage the coordination of the PTO’s main fundraising activity, the sponsor drive in the fall. (Effort: 12-14 hours for September Sponsor Drive.)
Fundraising – Manage the coordination of the PTO’s smaller fund-raising activities. Does not include Sponsor Program. Includes Box Tops for Education, Spring See's Candies, Penny Wars, and other miscellaneous fundraising efforts. (Effort: 1-2 hours per month, 3-5 hours for Spring See's Candies, 3-5 hours for Penny Wars.)
Publicity – Coordinate weekly school bulletin. Disseminate positive information to the community about the school, its students, and the PTO. Promote related activities and programs in order to heighten community awareness. Many tasks can be accomplished via email. (Effort: year-round, 2-3 hours per month.)

Original Works – Coordinate our annual Original Works fundraiser. (Effort varies. Peak in September and October.)
Fall Carnival – Coordinate our Fall Carnival event. (Effort varies. Peak in October.)
Turkey Trot – Coordinate our annual event including student sponsorship drive and the selection, design, ordering, and inventory of event school T-shirts. (Effort varies. Peak in September - November.)
Teacher Appreciation – Organize teacher and staff appreciation activities and coordinate daily recognition for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week in May. Works closely with Classroom Coordinators. (Effort: 2-4 hours per month, more in May depending on what activities are planned.)
Volunteer – Coordinate volunteers for PTO events and school activities. Collect list of general volunteers at beginning of year and for special events. Assure that volunteer data is recorded and available to both the Board of Directors and teachers. Work with teachers, staff, and leaders of committees to assure volunteers are recruited for programs. On-going dialog with Classroom Coordinators as to class and grade activities. (Effort: on-going, year round; time peaks with a few big events. Average: 3 hours per month; could range from 0 to 8 hours per month during major events.)
Yearbook – Manage the coordination and production of the yearbook, making sure photos are taken and collected throughout the school year. (Effort: 1-2 hours per month, more in May when yearbook is being produced.)
