The program will run summer 2026

1.   When is the application deadline

The application deadline is March 1, 2026

2.   What is included with participation?

• Ten-week research experience at Miami University in Oxford, OH

• Travel to and from Miami University

• On-campus housing

• $7000 stipend

• Some meal money for on-campus eateries

• Funds for research supplies (provided to faculty mentor)

3. Can I apply if my GPA is less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale?

This program requires that students have at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale. If your GPA improves and you are still eligible according to other criteria, then you are welcome to apply.

4.   I have completed less than 4 semesters of college coursework. Am I eligible to apply?

You can apply. However, priority will be given to applicants who have completed at least 4 semesters of college coursework. 

5.   I will graduate before July 2026. Am I eligible to apply?

No, the NSF requires that participants have at least one semester of undergraduate study remaining after completing the summer program.

6.   Am I eligible to apply if I am not a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident?

No, NSF requires participants to be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or permanent residents.

7.   I am a student at Miami University. Can I still apply to this program?

You can apply, but you are unlikely to be selected. You are encouraged to apply to other programs.

8.   Can I participate in this program even if my college does not complete its spring semester until June?

Please reach out. Participants need to be available for the duration of the summer program, tentatively scheduled to be June 1 - August 7, 2026.

9.   How will I know if my letters of recommendation have been submitted?

An automatic email is generated and sent to you when your letters are submitted. If you have not received such a notification, please check your spam or junk mail folder and then contact us.

10.   How do I submit my transcript(s)?

An unofficial copy of your transcript(s) may be uploaded in the online application form as a pdf, doc, docx, or jpeg. If you are selected for the program, then an official transcript will be requested.

11. When will I learn if I have been selected for this program?

We will begin reviewing applications in March 2026.
