The PTA's mission is to enrich the educational experience of every child at MELS by supporting our school through collaboration, resources, and community. We believe that when parents, caregivers and teachers work together, amazing things happen!
If your child is a student at MELS, that automatically makes you a member of our PTA. You can attend meetings, lead a committee, host or sponsor an event and of course run for a board seat. Your involvement makes a real difference.
Join us as we build a stronger, more connected school community—one where every voice counts and every effort matters!

What is the PTA, and what does it do?
The PTA is a group of parents, caregivers, and teachers who work together to support our students and strengthen our school community. We plan events, raise funds, and create opportunities for families and staff to connect. If your child attends MELS you are automatically a member of the PTA!
How is the PTA different from the school administration?
The school handles academics and daily operations. The PTA focuses on community-building, fundraising, and providing extra resources that enrich student life.
Do I need special skills to volunteer?
Not at all. The PTA is about community, not expertise. If you want to be involved, there’s a place for you.
Are there leadership opportunities?
Yes! There are many ways to take on leadership and help shape the direction of the PTA. We are currently looking for grade leaders and committee chairs.
What kinds of events does the PTA organize?
We host family-friendly events like our Winter Whimsical, picture day, Valentines Day pop up shop, parents wellness nights, end of the year BBQ and more!
Where does the money go?
PTA funds are used directly to support students, teachers in our school community. This includes classroom supplies, field trips, enrichment programs, teacher appreciation and student intensives. This also includes teams and student groups including: PAL, MELS Speaks, Theatre, Music recitals, Battle of The Bands, 8th grade passages, Senior dinner, grade specific needs and various affinity groups.
Can I help if I'm busy?
Yes! Even contribution of time or resources make a difference. Whether it’s baking for an event, making a donation, or purchasing from our Amazon wish every bit counts.
What if I can't attend meetings?
Can I bring up a new idea or concern?
Please do! The PTA is parent and caregiver - led, so your voice matters. Reach out to us directly, or bring it up at a meeting.
We ask you to Be A Friend To MELS and continue to support the P.T.A through a direct donation. Your donation will help support school activities such as:
