Teaching is my third career, although it was my earliest ambition. I worked many years in the restaurant industry followed by a short career in insurance before returning to college to continue my education. I graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and an emphasis in 4th through 8th grade Math and Science in 2011. I then completed my Master's Degree in Secondary Education in 2015, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction, also through Texas A&M University-Commerce.
This is my eleventh year to teach, all of which have been at Berry Middle School. I have taught 7th and 8th grade math, and this is my ninth year teaching 6th grade math. I have found my happy place in the 6th grade hall!
My husband, Keith, and I share a four-acre property with my dad that is located about 20 miles east of Mesquite. We have many pets including dogs, a sheep named Maggie, three Boer goats named Rowdy, Rona, and Colson, peacocks, African Grey geese, a corn snake named Corndog, a ball python named Loretta, and a ball python named Sully. We also have two Dexter steers named Resty and Hopper. I guess you could say I'm an animal lover!
When we can get away from the "Mini-Farm," as my dad calls it, Keith and I enjoy visiting off-road parks where we ride four-wheelers, camp, and watch our friends race their mud trucks. We also enjoy spending time at the lake swimming and fishing. While most of my free time is spent outdoors, I also enjoy getting together with the girls for crafting when I can. I can't wait to learn about you!
