End of Summer and Back to School
With the end of summer comes back to school. Trust me, I know this time of year can be hectic. Just trying to learn a new routine, back to school bedtimes, sports, homework, etc. I have the same stress in my house. Sometimes taking a break from that schedule for a little silly outdoor fun can be all the stress relief you need. A 10 min impromptu water balloon fight (I like to ambush my kids when they least expect it ;-), a game of outdoor tag, running through a sprinkler, or playing out in the rain, can turn a bad night into a good night.
Have fun and keep moving!!
With everyone coming back to school, I thought I would show some links to important information concerning backpacks and the weight our children carry everyday. We are seeing more and more back pain from back packs that are too heavy for our children. Please feel free to read the links below for some good information on backpacks.
Backpack Guidelines
Walking around the different schools in the district, I have come to realize that many students are carrying backpacks that are too heavy. While their school books are heavy, it seems to me that children are bringing a lot of extra stuff that they do not need for school in their backpacks. In collaboration with the Occupational Therapist at Memorial, Jan Haskins, we realized that many parents do not have the proper information about backpacks and safety for their children. The links below are meant as a guideline for parents and students on proper weight and carrying techniques for children and backpacks.
