MDI HIGH SCHOOL - PROGRAM OF STUDIES

Principal's Letter

Dear Students and Parents,

This publication outlines the courses we will offer next year and the required standards for graduation. Please read this document carefully so that you can make informed decisions for next year and beyond.

COURSE OFFERINGS. Each year we review our offerings to create courses that serve student needs and interests. The course offerings are frequently updated, so please look through the Program of Studies to see what may have changed and to plan for your future. As you read, please keep in mind that it is possible that not all the courses listed will be offered, depending on scheduling and enrollment.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS. Please make sure that you are planning your progress toward graduation. To ensure that graduates meet state law and acquire a well-rounded, comprehensive education, we have a range of academic requirements that include course credits distributed across seven content areas, demonstration of proficiency of the Maine Learning Results by meeting all graduation standards, community service, and a senior exhibition.

The School Counseling Department is here to assist you with planning your progress through high school. If you have any questions, please contact your School Counselor for clarification. They will be happy to assist you.

Mark Carignan – Freshmen Counselor; 1st Semester Sophomores

Michele Gurtler – Upperclass Counselor [A-K]; 2nd Semester Sophomores

Megan Rowell - Upperclass Counselor [L-Z]; 2nd Semester Sophomores

Carrie Eason – Administrative Assistant

MAKE IT COUNT. We offer an extraordinary range of programs and resources here at MDI High School. Our hope is that every student will find a place where they feel challenged and supported. Please use this Program of Studies to help you plan a rich high school experience.

Sincerely,

Matt Haney, Principal
