Intro to Metal Design and Fabrication: Students in this course will be introduced to various metalworking skills including; introduction to sheet metal, welding, and basic metal fabrication. They may also be introduced to the art of machining metal. Students will learn about the safe operation of basic metalworking equipment, practice skills with cutting, drilling, grinding and welding, and complete skill work to show their abilities. The main focus of the course is a self-designed fabrication project. Students have the option to choose their own project, design it following the design and problem solving process, and fabricate it using the machines they have learned about.
Advanced Metal Design and Fabrication: This course is a continuation of the intro level. Students should be able to perform at a higher level, and produce higher quality products. It is expected that students work to improve their skills, and practice new skills such as: stick welding, TIG welding, CNC plasma cutting, Mill/Lathe operation. The main focus of the course is a self-designed fabrication project. Students have the option to choose their own project, design it following the design and problem solving process, and fabricate it using the machines they have learned about.
