Week of September 28th-October 2nd

Reminders:

• Friday, October 2nd- 2:00 early dismissal for the Homecoming Parade. Starting with bus riders at 1:45.

• A weekly written spelling test will be given on Friday. This week's words to study: Word List 7: J Sound (list can be accessed below).

• IXL topics have been assigned for weekly class practice and extra credit. Smart goal achievement should be 85 or higher to receive credit. IXL link and list of skills can be accessed below.

• Wednesday, October 7th- PTO meeting at 3:30

• First quarter grading period ends Friday, October 9th. Please have all missing assignments completed to be reflected in report card averages. Report cards will be emailed Wednesday, October 21st.

• Fall Break-Monday, October 12th-Friday, October 16th

• Friday, October 30th- Fall Parties and Book Character Costumes

Reading: 6BSU2 Lesson 10- Students compare and contrast Suzanne Jurmain’s and Mabel Lazear’s presentations of Dr. Lazear’s infection in Chapter 10 "Doctor Are You Sick" WB pgs. 133-136.

Reading: 6BSU2 Lesson 10- Students will continue to compare and contrast Suzanne Jurmain’s and Mabel Lazear’s presentations of Dr. Lazear’s infection in Chapter 10 "Doctor Are You Sick" WB pgs. 133-136.  

WB pgs. 191-194 /Journal pgs. 44-47

Writing: Students will gather evidence from Suzanne Jurmain’s text and use Dr. Lazear's perspective to explain his actions and motivations. Prompt: Imagine you are Dr. Lazear in the hospital in 1900. Write a letter from his perspective to his wife, Mabel. (Assignment posted in Amplify) graded assignment

Reading: 6BSU2 Lesson 11- Students read closely and paraphrase particular sentences to understand the risks and rewards of becoming a medical volunteer at Camp Lazear in Chapter 11 "Sorting it Out" pgs.136-139  (paragraphs 1-12) and Chapter 12 "Problems"pgs. 140-142 (paragraphs 10-15).

Friday, October 2nd

Reading: 6BSU2 Lesson 13-Students trace the steps of the experiments at Camp Lazear to explain the findings and provide an objective summary. Then students evaluate specific claims in the text that are supported by reasons and evidence.  Read Chapter 13 "Are We Doing It for Medical Science" pgs. 142-145. 

WB pgs. 200-203 Journal pgs. 55-59

Writing: Students in each group summarize the key methods and findings of the experiment.
