The journey of your first high school English class has begun. My challenge to you is to be prepared to think beyond the obvious in the texts we read, to describe your opinion in the papers we write, and to allow yourself to become a critical thinker and conscientious student.
This course is designed to expose to different types of literature with an emphasis on short stories, novels, plays, and plays, and poetry. Students will develop an awareness of literary terms and an appreciation of various writing styles and intents. Writing assignments of varied purposes and lengths will be given. The course also includes studies of both vocabulary and grammar that are integrated throughout the course.
This year I will be using Google Classroom for communications with parents and students, assignment & assessment information, and weekly classroom & homework agendas.
