Parkside Updates 11/14/2022

Three Important Updates for Our Students and Families

Your Student's First Report Card

First quarter ended on Thursday, November 10. All grades will be posted by Thursday, November 17 and report cards will be distributed to students on Friday, November 18. If you have any questions about grades please email your student's teacher(s) directly.

Parkside's Report Card

Each school in the district, is setting goals for school improvement for the 2022-2023 school year. These plans focus on indicators from the school district's strategic plan and focus on Attendance, Behavior and Core Skills (ABC Goals). We will be reporting out to families each quarter about the progress we are making towards meeting these goals. Here is a link to the full newsletter containing a description of our goals and a summary of the data we are tracking. We also included a brief summary of what we are doing to achieve these goals and what families can do to help support our efforts.

Weather and Morning Arrival

As the weather shifts and gets colder, please make sure your student is dressed appropriately in layers for the colder mornings when they are out at their bus stop as well as on school grounds before we let them inside at 7:20. Unless it is raining, snowing or below 25 degrees, your child will be outside until 7:20. If you need a warm coat for your student please contact our social worker, Jillian Record via email jillianrecord@mansd.org.

Two Important Updates for Our Students and Families

Change to Dismissal

Starting Monday, we will now be supervising Parkside students picking up their younger siblings at Gossler in our cafeteria until 2:50. Students will report to the cafe at the 2:25 bell and check in with our designated staff member. They will then be walked over to Gossler at 2:50 for their dismissal.

This means that Parkside students should not be on the playground, basketball court, soccer pitch or Gossler's school grounds until after Gossler's dismissals. We expect all students to leave school grounds or be supervised in an after school program after our dismissal.

No School on Wednesday

Wednesday, October 19 is a workshop day for teachers. There is no school for students on this day.

ECF Devices

Manchester students have the opportunity to access ECF devices. These are federally provided devices through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 with the goal of helping schools and libraries close the homework gap. We are working to identify students who lack internet and/or devices at home that they need to connect to the classroom.

If your student(s) need access to a device outside of school, please reach out to Parkside’s Library Media Specialist, Shauna Gagnon at sgagnon@mansd.org or to your student(s) team teachers.
