Announcements
Last day of school is June 17
It is an early release day. See you at 11:05.
Dear Parents, June 16, 2026
We have had such a wonderful year of growing and fun! Please continue to work with your kids over the Summer so that they'll be ready for First grade. Here are a few simple ideas:
-Sight words cards or Memory (you can do the same with letter cards to-have them tell you the sounds of the letters)
-Writing Journal: have them write a simple sentence about what they did each day. Add more detail as time passes.
-Read, read, read! Have them read the stories that we sent home throughout the year, the mini books and the new stories in the orange workbook. Also read to them and have them answer simple who, what, where and when questions. They should even be able to tell you the problem too, if there is one.
Keeping their minds active is only going to help them in the long run. I hope you enjoy your Summer! See yu next year in the First grade hallway!!

Behavior Plan
Dear Parents, 9/2025
I wanted to take a moment and explain my classroom behavior plan. We keep track of our behavior throughout the day using a pocket chart labeled “How is my behavior today?” Each child has 5 colored cards (purple, green, yellow, orange and red). Be safe, be respectful and be responsible are our school/classroom rules.
Every morning they start with a green card, which means that they are ready to learn. At the beginning of the year, we will create Class Rules together. If they do not follow our classroom rules, they will get a verbal warning (typically more than one at the beginning of the year). This is a simple reminder for them to change their behavior and why it’s not appropriate. If they continue to misbehave, they will change their cards to yellow as a visual warning and may be asked to spend a few minutes in our calming corner to reset their behavior. Before they return to the group, I will talk to them about their behavior and better choices that they could have made. If the behavior persists, they flip to orange and will need to use 5-10 minutes at recess to think about what would’ve been a better choice.
Our red card is only for those rare times when the misbehavior continues. When this happens, they may lose more of their recess or a call to the office will be made, in extreme cases. If your child gets a red card, I will do my best to remember to speak to you at pick up or email you explaining why, but if I forget please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
For those kids that are just having a great day, whether it’s good behavior, positive attitude, or being a helpful friend, they can flip their cards up to purple. At the end of the day the kids that are on purple will be able to pick out of my special sticker bin.
The children that are able to stay on purple and green all week with only one yellow card here or there (let’s face it, no one is perfect)…..they will earn the chance to visit my Treasure Chest at the end of the week. So don’t be surprised when he/she comes home on Friday with a prize!!
Have questions? Just ask!
