Thank you for your interest in the Preschool Practicum class at Maine West! To apply, please complete the application by clicking the red "Apply Here" box to the left in addition to meeting with your counselor.
The Preschool Practicum is a unique program that involves teaching actual children in the preschool lab. Students learn about the development of preschool-aged children, guide children, plan and teach preschool appropriate lessons to enhance the developmental areas of young children. Students also lead the children and their peers, as well as communicate with parents of the preschool children on a regular basis.
Since students are held to a high level of responsibility as a teacher in the preschool, there are several expectations of all enrolled students. Here is a list of qualities students are expected to have:
Responsibility Good Attendance/Grades
Maturity Leadership
Professionalism Confidence
It is also recommended that students successfully complete Early Childhood Development. Students may also be asked to interview with Mrs. Barone before acceptance. If you have any questions, please feel free to email cbarone@maine207.org.
