Ali Hosseinipour

Bio: Ali is a Ph.D. student in electrical engineering at Lehigh University, specializing in dynamic modeling and control of modern power systems and microgrids. He has gained valuable industry experience through internships with companies such as Wartsila and Tesla. His research work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering Doctoral Fellowship in 2021 and third prize at the 2023 IEEE PESGM Graduate Student Poster Contest. 


Maral Shadaei

Joined in Fall 2022

Bio: Maral Shadaei is a second year PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lehigh University. Her research primarily focuses on the data-driven modeling, control, resiliency, stability, and reliability of microgrids. She has developed innovative strategies for microgrid power sharing using predictive control technologies, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of distributed energy resources. Maral's notable work also includes the creation of a novel quantitative resilience metric that improves operational assessments in marine vessel power systems, supported by the Department of Defense, Office of Naval Research. Her research work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering Doctoral Fellowship in 2022.

Zhongtian Zhang

Joined in Fall 2022

Bio: Having commenced his journey at Lehigh in 2019, he successfully obtained his M.S. degree before transitioning into his PhD program in 2022. His research primarily revolves around dynamic modeling and control of grid-connected distributed energy resources (DERs), real-time simulation of microgrid dynamics, and the application of sparse identification techniques in nonlinear dynamics (SINDy). His research work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering Doctoral Fellowship in 2022.


Lydia Asare

Joined in Fall 2023

Bio: Lydia is a PhD student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Lehigh University, specializing in power systems. She earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, in 2022. Her current research focuses on Control and Resilience of Microgrid Operation. Her research work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering Doctoral Fellowship in 2023.


Elham Jamalinia

Joined in Fall 2022

Bio: Elham is currently pursuing her PhD degree at the electrical and computer engineering department at Lehigh University. She specializes in data-driven dynamic state estimation and model identification of nonlinear power systems. She is experienced in developing innovative solutions for dynamic state estimation and control of nonlinear power systems, including Kalman filtering techniques, particle filtering method. Prior to joining Lehigh, she was working on a quantum control project at Princeton University, where she studied controllability analysis of complex systems using Lie algebra. 


Xiaoyu Ge

Bio: Xiaoyu is currently pursuing his PhD degree in the electrical and computer engineering department at Lehigh University after receiving a MSc degree at Lehigh in 2022. His research focuses on machine learning in smart grids and microgrids for optimization and control purposes and is currently under the support from the Office of Naval Research (ONR). His research work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering Doctoral Fellowship in 2022.
