Course Information

Information for Spring 2022 online classes will be e-mailed to your (registered students) CCSF e-mail account approximately one week prior to the beginning of the spring term.

Students registered for SOC 25 section 931 (CRN: 33474) Spring term will be able to access the course via CCSF Canvas on the first day of the CityOnline calendar -- Calendar, January 31, 2022 (CityOnline: https://online.ccsf.edu/classes/). This class is asynchronous; there are no required synchronous meetings for SOC 25. You will not be required to be online at a specific or recurring time for lecture or other activities. Orientation materials will be available on Canvas (CCSF's online class platform) once the term begins.

Information about adding this classe: If the class is full when you attempt to register for it, I recommend that you register for the waitlist for the section you are wanting to add. If there is space on the wait list you will be offered the option to add the class during the registration process. Getting on the wait list or requesting permission to add the class is/are the only way to attempt to add this class. I do not keep a separate wait list beyond the official waiting list for these classes. If the wait list is full, I recommend checking back daily as people do drop off the list for various reasons.

Student “Class Add Authorization” process

The process to add a class will now take place using the myRAM Portal.

1. During the 1st week of class, if there is an opening the student can easily register for the class using the myRAM Portal.

2. The class add authorization process will allow students to request to be added to a class after the start date if there are no openings available online on the myRAM Portal.

Steps to submit a class add request

1. Log into myRAM Portal

2. Click Student Portal

3. Click the link labeled “Class Add Request”

4. Select the term and enter the CRN of the course you wish to enroll

5. Click the “Go” button

6. The submitted request has been sent to the primary instructor of the class for approval. Please check your CCSF email regularly to see if your request was approved or denied. If it is approved, you will have 24 hours in which to enroll.

In closing, I recommend that you also visit CCSF's Distance Learning website to prepare for your online learning experience (this link includes a link to an online learning preparedness assessment). This site has a number of very helpful resources and information to consider before class starts, especially if you are new to online learning.

Fall office hours. I will be available on Tuesday mornings 9a.m. - 10a.m. by e-mail and by appointment this semester. Note -- all e-mail will be returned within 24 hours with the exception of weekends and holidays.

Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS): Students who need academic accommodations should request them from the Disabled Students Programs and Services (Links to an external site.)
