Welcome to 7th Grade Math! We will be working out of the Saxon Course 3 book. Here is the beginning of the year letter to students. Introduction the 7th Math Letter
The students can print many helpful documents from my website and Google classroom:
- A copy of the math book is linked under Google classroom. This can be downloaded to any kindle, iPad, nook, e-reader, etc.
- Using Google classroom, students can access practice copies of the upcoming test with answers posted that show all steps of the work. Students can help each other study for upcoming tests and ask each other homework questions as needed.
- Under "Week At A Glance" students can see our plan for the week in school. Under the Friday homework I will post when our next assessment will be so students can prepare.
Homework should be organized in a way to help them correct mistakes.
- My expectation for math homework is that it is: complete in pencil, done in a two column format, and work is shown for each problem.
- When they don’t show their work, I am unable to help. I can do the problem with them, but I can’t help them find their mistake if they erase or don’t show their work. Students may lose points on homework for not showing their work or not showing all steps.
- The same things goes for when they don’t understand how to do a problem. My first two questions to them always are, “did you look at the lesson?” and “did you look at the notes?” Please help me encourage the students to help themselves by searching for a solution instead of relying on you and me to guide them.
Grades will be entered into Power School. Parents and students can view grades at any time. I encourage students to check their grades often and to come to me with any concerns.
-70% Tests
-20% Classwork/ Quizzes/ Participation
-10% Homework
- Late work will be accepted for half credit one day after the due date. After one day, a zero will be entered for the assignment.
- Homework will be assigned Monday-Friday. Students are responsible for completing the assigned problems and turning it in the following school day unless otherwise noted.
- Students will be able to complete test corrections after each test. Students MUST follow the sample format in order to receive credit.
- Below is the scale that I will follow when grading test corrections:
· Student Score: 90-100% = 5 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score 85-89% = 6 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score 80-84% = 7 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score: 75-79% = 8 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score: 70-74% = 9 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score: 65-69% = 10 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score: 60-64% = 11 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score: 40-59% = 12 points maximum added to test score
· Student Score: 39% or below = grade raised up to 50% maximum
Thank you for all of your support and help!
