With our new addition of iPads, we now have a wealth of APPs available to us and our students. This page will be dedicated to our ever growing collection of apps that can be loaded onto the iPads.
District Installed Apps
Pages: word processing program. This will be available on most of our iPads. It allows you to create a variety of documents either from scratch, or by using a template. As you add text, you are also able to easily import photos from the iPad and create charts and graphs.
iPhoto: App allows you to create albums, edit photos, and send them out.
GarageBand: Can use a variety of instruments to create music, play with different sounds and beats, and can put several tracks together to orchestrate songs and singing.
iMovie: Great app for creating movies and trailers. Allows you to edit video footage, add text and transitions, and even record voice overs, and add background music. Movies can then be imported to itunes and saved as quicktime videos to share.
Educreations: It's like an interactive whiteboard, where students can show their work, and they can also record what they are doing both on the screen and with audio. Allows students to narrate and annotate so they can review their learning, as well as share with others.
Evernote: This is my FAVORITE note taking app. This could be used by kids and teachers. Notes can be tagged, so you can easily search them later. They can be organized into notebooks. You can also snap pictures and add them in, as well as audio recordings that can be embedded. There is another app, penultimate that has similar features, but notes are written with a stylus or finger instead of typing.
Teacher Tool Apps
Table Tots: This is an app that teachers can use with small groups or one-one. It has virtual manipulatives like base ten blocks, numbers, letters, coins, etc. It can be used for math or some reading/spelling lessons as well.
Paper Port Notes: This app allows you to work with PDFs, annotate over them. It also has many of the features that Evernote includes, with the exception of putting notes into folders or notebooks.
Class Dojo: This is a classroom management app. It allows you to create your class on the app or on the website. Then you can track behavior or instructional goals for each student by clicking on their icon (a monster) and choosing what to award them a point for, or take one away. Review of the app
