It is never too early to start thinking about post-secondary plans. For students whose futures may include college, part of the planning process involves thoughtfully determining which classes to schedule throughout high school. Every post-secondary school is unique in terms of admission requirements, and many colleges even have different admission requirements for different majors within their own school. It is therefore crucial for students to research schools that they may be interested in attending and to understand their specific requirements for admission.
To help with determining which classes to take during high school, students should be aware of the following:
Students may schedule meetings with our guidance counselors to discuss specific plans and goals, as well as how best to attain these.
College and university representatives visit throughout the school year and are valuable sources of information about their schools. These visits occur during seminar time and may be scheduled using Flextime Manager.
College visitation days are available to juniors and seniors as a means of determining fit, as well as obtaining information about the admission process.
Again, every college is unique and there is no single collection of courses which guarantees admission to a particular school. There are, however, strong suggestions of how to best select courses to maximize the chance for admission. Click each organization below to view its suggestions for high school course selection.
