Honors Chemistry

Course Description:

This course in Chemistry is designed primarily for students who plan to study sciences and science-related fields in college. The course is laboratory-centered, concept-oriented, and utilizes the inquiry method of learning. Its purpose is to provide students with an extensive understanding of basic chemical principles and give them an appreciation for the regularities that exist in the world. In addition an appreciation for the interdependencies among all the scientific disciplines is fostered. Problem solving strategies and techniques will be emphasized not only in the classroom problem-solving sessions, but, will be further stressed in laboratory reports. Hypothesis development and mastery of laboratory skills will also be required as a basic parts of the laboratory component of the course.
