Lawrence Cardinals Girls' Basketball
The 4-Point Play
is our program philosophy. Life skills and character can be taught, developed, and practiced through the game of basketball- this is the ultimate goal. In order to make an extraordinary 4-point play, a player must be: confident to take & make the 3, physical and intelligent to draw the foul, mentally tough to recover from the foul, and fundamentally sound from practicing to drain the foul shot. We will strive to live by our 4-point play philosophy every day before, during, and well after season has ended.
1pt. We Over Me Always (WOMA)
When a teammate hits the floor, be first to pick them up. No one is ever alone on the court. Want what is best for the team, play a role, and be loyal. Display positive character at all times, you represent the entire school community.
2pt. Make Hard Work Contagious
With great success comes great sacrifice. Work hard on the things that aren’t fun, so you can reach the successes you will cherish forever. Great players don’t talk about how hard they work- they just do it.
Hold your teammates accountable.
3pt. The Three C’s: Commitment, Communication, Confidence
Prioritize your life and recognize the importance of Commitment to the team. Make basketball your excuse for other plans. Communication is key on and off the court. Be an active listener and look your teammates and coaches in the eye. Make your goal every day to leave the gym a stronger player than when you entered. This will build player and team Confidence.
4pt. Do The Dirty Work Opponents Hate & Teammates Love
Take the charge, make the extra pass, box out, dive on the floor, defend tirelessly, set the screen to get a teammate open, cheer from the bench, play with heart and emotion, practice like it’s game day, be well conditioned, make your foul shots, never play to the scoreboard, prepare to win.
