Report cards are issued, through the Infinite Campus system, two times during the year. Each report card reflects the students’ performance for the preceding academic semester.
An Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal allows family members and students, with an activated account, to access data about students’ attendance, grades, test scores and other pertinent data about student progress. Access to the Parent Portal can be gained from home, work, school, public library, or anywhere an internet connection can be established. The school uses IC to report absences, gather enrollment information, and teachers use it as a gradebook. If you have forgotten your username/password or do not have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account, please contact Jean Gehring jgehring@lps.k12.co.us for assistance.
Understanding Grades in Infinite Campus
To ensure the application of a guaranteed and viable curriculum we will track student progress based on the identified topics and the foundational and target work done to help students master those topics. To achieve this goal, we are making adjustments to how we report student progress in Infinite Campus. In the past, teachers have reported assignments using categories such as classwork, homework, projects, or tests. Moving forward, these categories will be based on the topics in the state standards. Every topic will be addressed throughout the year according to the identified scope and sequence.
Additionally, assignments will have an (F) or (T) before the description. This will help identify which assignments focus on building foundational skills (F) and which are aimed at the grade-level target (T).
These changes will ensure that all standards are addressed at each grade level throughout the year, and will assist teachers and parents in understanding which areas students are mastering and which areas need improvement. This will serve as a valuable tool for fostering meaningful dialogue during conferences or when concerns about a student's academic growth and achievement arise. Academic grades will continue to be reported using a traditional A-IE scale. Work habits will be reported using a 1-4 scale, with a ‘3’ indicating a student is meeting expectations.
Moving forward, we will not post the quarter grade to a separate report card. You can expect to be alerted midway through the semester to review student progress in Infinite Campus. Parents have access to Infinite Campus through the parent portal to check in on your student's progress at any time. We will also continue sending email alerts when a student’s grade drops to a D or IE.
