About Mrs. Benner

Hello! My name is Mrs. Benner and I cannot wait to be your teacher! This will be my second year teaching 5th grade at Runyon. It is going to be a great year! During your final year of elementary school, we will do so many fun activities and learn so many interesting things. We will also go on a few field trips, including to the Colorado Symphony and Denver Art Museum, Young AmeriTowne, and of course... Outdoor Education in May!

We are going to do a lot of hard work this year, but we are also going to have an amazing time. I am eager to watch you grow in your love for reading, in your skills as a writer, as a mathematician, and also as a scientist.

A little bit about me...I grew up in New Jersey and then moved to California right after high school. I then decided to move to beautiful Boulder, CO. I received my bachelor’s degree from CU (Go Buffs!) and then spent 19 years working for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club. I left the Rockies to spend more time with my family and then decided to go back to school to become a teacher. I received my master’s in teaching elementary education from Metropolitan State University of Denver and did my student teaching in the classroom I have now. I live in Highlands Ranch with my husband Jeff, our son Cody who is a freshman at ThunderRidge High School, our daughter Chelsea who is an 8th grader at Ranch View, and our goldendoodle Kirby. We are a big sports family. On weekends, you can find me on the sidelines cheering on my kids in one of their baseball, soccer, football, or basketball games. We also love to support our Rockies, Broncos, Avalanche, and Nuggets as well as the CU Buffs and the Washington Huskies. In my spare time I also love to read, binge watch tv shows with my family, explore our beautiful state, and visit with friends.
