W.E.B. (Where Everybody Belongs)

What is WEB?

WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) is a part of The Boomerang Project.  It is "a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors from your 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th grade success."

In the spring, 7th graders will be filling out interest forms in hopes of being selected to become a WEB Leader for their 8th grade year. They will participate in and help lead large and small group activities throughout the year starting with 6th grade orientation.

Because many students are interested in being WEB leaders, students must go through a competitive process to be selected.  Once your student has submitted this interest form the WEB coordinators will review their information and essays.  The coordinators will also ask the students’ teachers for their input on whether students exhibit the following characteristics: a positive attitude, reliability, follow-through, ability to speak in front of a group, leadership in group activities, and a compatible personality.

The WEB coordinators will be looking for students in good standing, who would make good leaders and role models for the incoming 6th graders.

WEB Leaders will need to be at:
