Topic: 7-1:Find the Area of a Parallelogram and Rhombus
Question: How can you use the area formula of a rectangle to find the area of a parallelogram/rhombus?
Vocabulary: BASE - what the shape sits on HEIGHT - how tall the shape is from the base to the line parallel to the base
Formula: base x height = area bh=A
Practice: P.391 # 9, 10,11, 13, 15 P.392 # 17 -21 (Extra Challenge problems on p.392)

Thursday: 04-02 -20
Topic 7-2: Solve Triangle Area Problems
Question: How can you use the area of a rectangle to find the area of a triangle?
Vocabulary: BASE - what the triangle sits on HEIGHT - how tall the triangle is from its vertex to the base
Formula: (base x height)/ 2 = Area 1/2 x bxh=A or (bh)/2=A
Practice: P. 397 # 8, 9, 11, 13 P. 398# 19 (Extra Challenge problems p,398 #18, 20, 21)

Friday: 04-03-20
Topic 7-3: Find the Area of Trapezoids and Kites
Question: How can you find the area of a Trapezoid or Kite knowing the area formulas for a rectangle and triangle?
Vocabulary: KITE - is a quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent sides that are equal in length. Diagonals of a Kite are the short and long line that connect the line drawn from opposite vertices.
Formulas: TRAPEZOID: 1/2 x height( bottom base plus top base) KITE: 1/2 (long diagonal x short diagonal)
Practice: P.403 # 8, 9, 11, 12 P. 404 # 13, 14, 16 (Extra Challenge problems on p, 404)
